Life "After a Fashion"
Is Austin Chronicle style columnist, Stephen Moser, about to be dethroned by his readers?:
" In this week's 'After a Fashion' column Stephen Moser launches into a hyperbolic non-specific rant targeting the entire local fashion scene in Austin...Is Austin's fashion scene amateurish? Of course. There is no professional fashion industry in Austin and anyone who thinks that sort of infrastructure is going to magically appear in a town this size is fooling themselves. Yet between Linklater's films, SXSW, vintage shops a-plenty and L.A. dealers snapping up western wear from the surrounding small towns Austin still manages to influence contemporary fashion and style far beyond the city limits...Turn to the fashion column in the Chronicle and all you're going to hear about is who Moser went drinking with that week and where they went and which lovely young men he finds 'dreamy.'"
-From and anonymous "Stylecritic" at the Austin Chronicle
"Though it is often pretty amusing, the July 14 and 28 "After a Fashion" [Arts] made me question the point of the column's existence...Or, perhaps, Margaret (Moser, Stephen's sister) could find him employment elsewhere?"
-Jen Arffmann in the Austin Chronicle
